Chaperones are vital because they ensure the safety and safeguarding of children at all times. Relying solely on the driver to supervise children and concentrate on the road and vehicle is a high risk. Our chaperones permit the driver to concentrate on their job and assist in the event of breakdown or emergency. They ensure that students are seated with seat-belts in place and maintain good behaviour.

We have designed our own training, equipment and safeguarding elements in-house.
We employ the right chaperone for each particular bus route, obtain the correct and legal documentation including Enhanced DBS checks. We have a dedicated chaperone manager who permanently supervises the team and bus route and immediately supply replacement chaperones if required.

Having an adult in charge of the children’s safety during the route makes parents more comfortable in using the bus service and sending their children to that specific school. We know that you can put cameras on a bus – but the fact still remains that it is solely the driver in charge of the vehicle and the passengers, and the road must be their priority.
Our chaperones remain regardless of whether bus companies change their drivers or the school decides to change bus company providers. Using school staff also lacks the continuity BizzyBus provides as teachers are often not able to stick to one bus route, morning and afternoon all five days of the week throughout the year. Not being linked to school staff or the bus company means there is no conflict of interest when it comes to monitoring the bus’ service quality.
All chaperones carry an up to date list of children using the bus. This register is updated weekly by BizzyBus with the information given to us by the school. Every single afternoon the school updates each chaperone directly of any absence or playdates.
We communicate all issues to the school, whether they are related to children, drivers, the state of the bus or the bus route itself. We then work together with schools and parents to solve any problems. Our chaperones are trained to facilitate open communication by providing a point of contact. We have also developed a new app which facilitates and improves both communication between parties and efficiency of the overall service.
